Pocket Surprises

Reach into your jacket pocket. What do you find? A key, a Kleenex?

More than likely, in my pocket are peanut butter cracker crumbs.

Peanut butter crackers have saved me from starving. They are quick, tasty and satisfy my need for salty things.

I’d rather have something salty than something sweet.

Don’t get me wrong, I do like a slice of cheesecake with cherries on top, a double stuffed vanilla Oreo cookie, or a Reece’s peanut butter cup.
You must agree that the combination of chocolate and peanut butter is the best combination of salty and sweet. Yum.

Other things find their way into my pockets like dead flowers, dog biscuits and change.

Once I found a $20 bill. I’m not sure why I didn’t miss it after the jacket was put away, but twenty dollars is twenty dollars.

Perhaps a fairy put it there.

I wish that the same fairy would help me find the lost things I didn’t leave in my jacket.

Maybe I should always wear a jacket with large pockets and drop everything in them. Then I’d know precisely where things are.

Better still, my husband and son should wear a jacket with supersize pockets and stop relying on me to remember where they put stuff.

Until then, I’ll let the food fairy surprise me with peanut butter crackers.

May your day be filled with pocket surprises.

Let me know what you've found at aitken.helen@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you.

Have a great day.
